About Us – Roots of Regeneration and Growth
OrganicFarmCA was established in 2016 when soil-scientist Dr. Clara Hughes and fifth-generation farmer Thomas McLeod shared a vision for agriculture that heals the earth while feeding communities. Frustrated by conventional practices that deplete soils and compromise biodiversity, they transformed a 200-acre dairy farm near Guelph into a living laboratory for regenerative methods. Today, OrganicFarmCA partners with over 150 certified-organic producers from Ontario to Quebec and British Columbia—forming Canada’s largest cooperative network dedicated to sustainable agribusiness.
Our central R&D hub collaborates with the University of Guelph’s Organic Research Centre to develop advanced cover-crop rotations, compost teas rich in beneficial microbes, and insect-habitat corridors that naturally manage pests. Drone-assisted soil-moisture monitoring and satellite imagery guide water-efficient irrigation, reducing consumption by up to 40%. Meanwhile, hand-scouting ensures we respect local ecology, identifying pollinator nests and rare native plants.
Community engagement is woven into our DNA. We host monthly Open-Farm Saturdays where families can tour fields, learn seed-saving techniques, and sample fresh-pressed juices. Through the “Future Farmers” scholarship, we fund young agronomists exploring regenerative systems at agricultural colleges. A percentage of every pound of produce sold is channelled back into rural development grants—enabling smallholders to install high-tunnel greenhouses and solar-powered cold storage.
Every product carries a blockchain-verified QR tag linking to detailed provenance: planting dates, soil-health metrics, and grower stories. From heirloom squash and winter wheat to pasture-raised lamb and free-range eggs, each item adheres to Canada Organic Regime and USDA-NOP standards. OrganicFarmCA isn’t merely a supplier—it’s a movement cultivating resilient landscapes, vibrant communities, and flavours that speak of stewardship and regeneration.
